CMC Markets

CMC Markets claims to be the first online retail foreign exchange company. CMC Markets (US) is listed on the CFTC list, but has an extremely small amount of net excess capital. An issue of note here is that they are a subsidiary of the much larger CMC Markets PLC in the United Kingdom.

Regulation

CMC is regulated in the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, China, Germany, Canada and the United States. They were one of the first, if not the first to get regulated in China.

Trading Station

CMC offers more than most other brokers with most of the crosses and countries where permitted, spread betting and CFD's options, with abilities to trade other instruments like equities and commodities.

The name of the software is called Marketmaker and with it you get all the standard features, and additionally it has backtesting capability.

Marketing

CMC's online ad budget is much lower than other brokers as ads rarely show up compared to FXCM and GFT Forex. They do however spend more money on print ads and their ads can be seen in newspapers like the Financial Times often.

Market Making

CMC operates on a dealing desk model. They say on their website their volume is around a half trillion per year which is about $40 billion per month.
